Boyd Electric, Inc. was founded in 1990 and has been providing electrical construction and maintenance solutions to the Chicagoland area for over 30 years. Our current services are focused on bringing energy saving solutions to municipal, commercial and industrial clients across the country.

Boyd Electric, Inc. began as a residential and commercial electrical contractor with an emphasis on projects in the south and western suburbs of Chicago. In the late 1990's, corporate focus shifted from residential work into strictly commercial and industrial projects. During that time period, a complete staff was added concentrating specifically on voice & data cabling and communications projects.

With the introduction of LED Technology, Jim Boyd took several trips to China in 2009, achieving the goal to secure a manufacturer of the latest innovations in lighting products. The relationships forged there brought the manufacturer to the US to build an extensive line of LED lighting fixtures and lamps domestically. Those products were later installed at the Federal Garage in Chicago, one of the first energy efficient lighting retrofit projects of its kind in the US.

Boyd Electric, Inc. offers over 12 years of experience retrofitting all kinds of businesses with the finest LED alternatives and our association with utility companies such as ComEd’s Energy Efficiency Programs allows us to provide our clients access to programs designed specifically to make upgrading their lighting plan an affordable and cost saving option. 

As the company has grown over the past thirty years our focus has shifted to take better advantage of the skills and relationships developed. Yet, one thing hasn't changed. Just as it was in 1990, our number one objective is to provide our customers efficient, quality service designed to fit their needs, not ours.
